Gallery

More than just an author, Ruth is a lifelong storyteller and photographer. This gallery captures the moments that have inspired her—from storytime events and classroom visits to everyday snapshots, artistic projects, and treasured memories. Each photo tells its own story, offering a glimpse into the experiences, people, and places that continue to shape her creative journey.

Ruth, along with fellow authors, attended the ALA (American Library Association) Conference in June in Philadelphia. The event brought together thousands of librarians, teachers, authors, illustrators, and vendors at the Convention Center. She connected with many inspiring people and listened to speakers such as George Takei. The experience was exciting, enlightening, and full of fun.

Ringing Rocks Park in Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania, is home to a rare field of boulders found in only a few places across the country. Once part of a massive river during the earth’s early formation, the water has long since disappeared, leaving behind this striking landscape of rocks. What makes the site especially unique is that when struck with a hammer, the boulders resonate like bells. Visitors often bring hammers to explore the different tones, and when many people are playing at once, it sounds like a chorus of church bells. Some even tap out familiar tunes like “Happy Birthday” or create their own melodies. Videos of this phenomenon can be found on YouTube, but experiencing it in person is unforgettable—just don’t forget to bring a hammer.

From the tower at Washington’s Crossing, visitors can see the Delaware River stretching south toward the city and north toward the Pocono Mountains, with New Jersey visible on the opposite bank. This historic site marks the place where General George Washington led his troops across the icy river on Christmas Eve, launching a surprise attack on the Hessians that became a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Looking out over the river, it’s easy to imagine the scene unfolding, a reminder of both the courage it took and the importance of protecting the fragile gift of freedom.

The serene woods of Pennypack Park offer a peaceful retreat, with Pennypack Creek winding twenty miles through several counties and accessible from multiple entrances along the way. Visitors can walk shaded woodland trails, splash in the creek, enjoy a picnic, or bike the paved path that follows the water. It’s a natural haven that leaves those who spend time there feeling refreshed and renewed.
